Ashwina Purnima, also known as Sharad Purnima, is observed on the full moon day of the Ashwin month, marking the end of the monsoon season and the onset of the spiritual Kartik month. It is a night revered for Lakshmi Puja, Satyanarayan Vrat, moon worship, and charitable giving. In many parts of India, this full moon is also celebrated as Kojagara Purnima, where devotees stay awake in devotion to invite the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. In 2025, Ashwina Purnima will be observed on the night of Tuesday, 6th October, with concluding rituals in the early hours of Wednesday, 7th October.
