Do you know there is an Ekadashi, that grants victory in tough consequences? This Ekadashi is called Vijaya Ekadashi, falling in the Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month during February.

When is Vijaya Ekadashi in 2026, Day, Date and Time?

In 2026 Vijaya Ekadashi will be observed on 13th February, Friday tithi will begin at 12:22 PM, on February 12, and will end at 02:25 PM, on February 13.

What is the story and significance behind Vijaya Eladashi?

Vijaya Ekadashi has done wonders to those, whoever has observed it with complete relaince and dedication. Do you know the real reason behind the victory of Shree Ram? He also observed the fast of Vijaya Ekadashi, when Shree Ram reached the sea shore, the sea felt impossible to cross and the entire mighty Vanar Sena felt helpless, Rama’s brother Lakshmana told him to take advise from Rishi Bakdalbhya, whose hermitage was nearby, Ram visited him and bowed in front of him respectfully and told his problem, Rishi advised him to observe the fast of Vijaya Ekadashi with complete submission, Ram and his army followed the sacred fast as explained by Rishi. When Shri Ramachandra percieved this vow as instructed, he achieved victory. By this, he crossed the ocean, defeated Ravana, and reclaimed Sita.

Similarly, life also has great oceans to cross, remember, faith plus devotion equals Victory.

How to observe Vijaya Ekadashi?

On the day of Vijaya Ekadashi, the devotees begins the fast early in the morning by taking a sankalp after bathing and then offering prayers to Bhagwan Shri Hari with devotion, lighting a ghee lamp, offering tulsi, flowers, incense, and reciting mantras like Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya or the Vishnu Sahasranama. Throughout the day one should follow a satvik lifestyle, avoid anger, harsh speech and unnecessary talking, and spend time chanting, reading the Bhagavad Gita or Ramayana, or listening to bhajans. According to one’s health, the fast may be observed as nirjala (without water), phalahar (with fruits, milk, coconut water, nuts, sabudana, makhana), or by eating only Ekadashi-allowed foods like kuttu or singhada flour while avoiding all grains like rice, wheat, lentils, beans, onion and garlic. A special Kalash Puja may also be performed by placing a water-filled kalash with mango leaves and a coconut, keeping it near the image or idol of Bhagwan Narayan, offering tulsi leaves, panchamrit, a diya, dhoop and fruits while praying for victory over difficulties, protection and spiritual purity, as Bhagwan Rama believed to have observed this pledge before crossing the ocean. Throughout the day, the devotee should maintain prayerful awareness, engage in charity such as giving food, clothes or sweets to the needy, cultivate mental purity and surrender to Vishnu while seeking inner strength and success in righteous endeavours, as the scriptures state that doing Vijaya Ekadashi brings victory, removes obstacles, purifies sins and grants divine blessings.
