The Story Behind Hartalika Teej
The word Hartalika comes from Harit (abduction) and Aalika (female friend) — referring to the moment when Goddess Parvati’s friend took her into the forest to protect her from an unwanted marriage.
Parvati performed intense penance to win Lord Shiva as her husband. Moved by her devotion, Shiva accepted her.
This vrat celebrates Parvati’s unwavering resolve, purity, and spiritual strength, making it a powerful observance for marital happiness and divine alignment.
