Who Should Perform?

  • Married women perform this vratham for the long life, health, and prosperity of their husbands
  • Unmarried girls perform it to seek the blessings of an ideal and loving life partner

When to Perform Mangala Gowri Vratham?

  • Observed on all Tuesdays (Mangalavaaram) during the Shravana Masam (July–August)
  • Newly married women are traditionally advised to perform it for five consecutive years
  • Performed during the morning hours with full shastric procedure, alankaram, and offerings

Ritual Procedure of Mangala Gowri Vratham

  • Ganapathi Pooja, Sankalpam, and Kalasha Sthapana
  • Alankaram of Goddess Mangala Gowri with turmeric, kumkum, bangles, flowers, and saree
  • Chanting of Gowri Ashtottaram, Mangala Gowri Vratha Katha, and offering of Naivedyam
  • At least five married women (Sumangalis) are invited and given Thamboolam, Kumkum, Bangles, and Dakshina
  • Final Harati is performed, followed by blessings from elders and Sumangalis
