Srardham

Srardham (Śrāddha Karma) is a sacred Vedic ritual performed every year on the Tithi (lunar date) when a loved one passed away. It is a spiritual offering of food and rituals to the departed ancestors (Pitrus) in the Pithru Lokha, to bring them peace and receive their blessings in return.

According to Shastras, feeding Brahmins, performing homam, and offering pindam during Srardham ensures ancestral satisfaction and helps the living overcome Pitru Dosha, delays, and life obstacles. This is one of the most important Vedic duties a family performs to honour their forefathers.

Srardham Procedure

  • The ritual is conducted every year on the specific Tithi (death anniversary date) of the ancestor
  • Starts with Sankalpam, Pindam offering, Tarpanam, and Brahmana Bhojanam
  • A Homa (Agni ritual) is performed to spiritually complete the offering
  • The procedure is customized as per:
    • Gotra and family tradition
    • Vedic patha (Shukla/Yajur/Rig)
    • Iyer or Iyengar ritual formats

Performed by a qualified Tamil Vadhyar (Priest) at your home or a dedicated Srardham venue
Duration: 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, based on the rituals opted

Srardham Ceremony Cost

Packages typically range from ₹4,000 – ₹15,000, based on:

  • Number of Brahmins involved
  • Whether food preparation (saappaadu samayalkarar) is included
  • Location: Home or Srardham Sabha

Benefits of Srardham
