Seemantham is a deeply revered Vedic ritual that celebrates a woman’s transition into motherhood. It is not just a joyous family function but a spiritual invocation for the protection, well-being, and divine grace upon both the mother and the unborn child.

Why Seemantham is Performed

Rooted in Vedic tradition, Seemantham is performed to:

  • Protect the womb from spiritual doshas and negative influences
  • Infuse the environment with positive vibrations using Udaka Shanti and sacred homams
  • Invoke intellectual, emotional, and spiritual strength for the baby
  • Prepare the family to welcome new life with grace and gratitude

This ritual is also associated with Valakappu (bangle ceremony) and Poochudal (flower shower), representing the family’s prayers and blessings for safe childbirth.

When to Perform Seemantham

  • Traditionally conducted during the 8th month of pregnancy
  • Muhurtham is selected based on the Janma Nakshatra of both husband and wife
  • Preferably done on an auspicious weekday during morning hours

Our Tamil Vadhyars will guide you in choosing the best time as per Tamil Panchangam.
