Performed with discipline and joy, this two-day Vedic ritual ensures the home is spiritually cleansed, protected, and filled with positive vibrations before the family settles in.
When to Perform Gruhapravesham Pooja
- On a muhurtham fixed as per Tamil Panchangam, ideally during Uttarayanam (Jan–Jun)
- Based on the Rasi and Nakshatram of the male (or female) head of the household
- Avoided during Aadi Masam (July–August) unless necessary
- Our Tamil Vadhyars assist with personalized muhurtham selection
Day 1 Evening – Vastu Shanti & Rakshogna Homam
- Vastu Shanti Homam is performed to align the home with natural elements and remove construction-related doshas

- The home is spiritually prepared for the divine presence of the family
Day 2 Morning – Main Rituals of Gruhapravesham
- Gau Pooja (Pasu Pooja): Worshipping a cow at the entrance is considered extremely auspicious. The cow is the first being to enter the home, signifying purity and divine grace

- Milk Boiling Ceremony (Paalu Kacha Karyam): Milk is boiled until it overflows, symbolizing abundance and prosperity
- Ganapathi Pooja: Lord Ganesha is worshipped to remove all obstacles
- Maha Sankalpam & Punyahavachanam: A purification ritual to invoke blessings for a fresh and sacred beginning
Main Homams Performed
- Ganapathy Homam – To remove all obstacles
- Mahalakshmi Kubera Homam – To invite wealth, abundance, and financial stability
- Navagraha Homam – For planetary balance and family well-being
- Vastu Homam & Japam – To nullify Vastu doshas and align the home spiritually
- Satyanarayanar Poojai (Optional) – For peace and divine grace from Lord Vishnu
Special Tamil Cultural Aspects
- Kolam and Mango Leaves: Entrance is decorated with kolam (rangoli) and fresh mango leaves for divine energy
- First Meal: Traditional Tamil dishes like Sakkarai Pongal, Payasam, and Murukku are prepared and offered to the deities
- Dwaja Sthapanam: A small flag may be hoisted outside the home to invite divine protection
- Kuthu Vilakku: A traditional lamp is lit and kept burning continuously for a few days
- Nadaswaram & Vedic Chanting: Enhances the spiritual atmosphere with sacred Tamil vibrations
