- The pooja begins with cleaning all instruments, machines, vehicles, or tools
- These items are then decorated with turmeric (manjal), sandalwood paste (santhanam), kumkum, and flowers
- A Ganapathy Pooja is performed to invoke removal of obstacles
- Lakshmi Pooja is conducted for prosperity and abundance
- Books, tools, computers, business files, office registers, household vessels, and vehicles are all placed before the altar for blessings
- At homes, people keep their cooking utensils, knives, and even children's stationery for pooja
- Vehicles are washed and decorated with banana leaves, garlands, turmeric paste, and lemon is placed under the tyres for protection
- Offerings like Aval Pori (puffed rice) and Vellam (jaggery) are prepared and distributed as prasadam

- Performed on the ninth day of Navaratri (Mahanavami)
