The ritual is known for its vibrant energy, deep Tantric and Vedic significance, and is often conducted during powerful lunar days or Fridays devoted to Devi.
Purpose and Spiritual Significance
Durga Devi, also known as Bhagavathi, is the protector of dharma and destroyer of adharma. When invoked with full devotion and proper rituals, her presence neutralizes graha doshas, clears negative vibrations, and uplifts the spiritual energy in one's home or business.
The pooja is centered around invoking the goddess into a deepam (large oil lamp) which symbolizes her divine presence in radiant form.
Ritual Procedure
- The ritual begins by setting up a Mandala with a large oil lamp placed at the center
- Matruka-Nyasa is performed, invoking each syllable of the divine alphabets on various parts of the Devi’s form
- The goddess is invoked in the lamp as Maha Kali (power), Mahalakshmi (wealth), and Maha Saraswati (knowledge)
- 108 names (Ashtothram) and Lalitha Sahasranamam are chanted with deep devotion
- Offerings include sandalwood, kumkum, flowers, coconut, jaggery, ghee lamps, and prasadam
- The pooja concludes with aarti and deepa pooja, spreading light and positivity in all directions
This ritual is often performed by experienced Vadhyars trained in both Tantra and Veda Vidya.
