Why is Kadali Vivaha Performed?

In Vedic astrology, if Mars (Mangal) is placed in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house of a person’s horoscope, it creates Manglik Dosha, which affects marriage and relationships. The 7th house represents marriage and gets directly impacted, leading to delays, disputes, separations, or health issues for the spouse.

If a Manglik male marries a Non-Manglik female, it may result in extreme marital troubles or unfortunate events. To avoid these, Kadali Vivaha is performed before the actual wedding ceremony.

How is Kadali Vivaha Performed?

The ritual involves the symbolic marriage of the groom to a Kadali (Banana) tree, which absorbs the negative effects of Mangal Dosha. After the ceremony, the tree is cut down, symbolizing the removal of this dosha.

Main Ritual Steps:

  • Ganapathi Pooja – To remove all obstacles before beginning.
  • Kalasha Sthapana – Invoking divine energies into the sacred Kalasha.
  • Mangal Graha Shanti Homa – Fire ritual to pacify the malefic influence of Mars.
  • Kadali Vivaha Ritual – Groom ties a sacred thread around the banana tree as in a real wedding.
  • Daan and Dakshina – Offerings made to Brahmins to conclude the ritual.

When to Perform Kadali Vivaha?

  • Ideally performed before the actual marriage ceremony.
  • Tuesdays (ruled by Mars) are most auspicious.
  • Date should be fixed based on the Janma Rashi Nakshatra of the male.

Benefits of Kadali Vivaha

  • Neutralizes Manglik Dosha effectively
  • Ensures a smooth, peaceful, and long-lasting marriage
  • Prevents second-marriage-related doshas and conflicts
  • Promotes good health and stability for both partners
  • Enhances chances of childbirth and family happiness

More Information

  • This ritual is exclusively for Manglik males.
  • Performed at temples or home premises under proper Vedic supervision.
  • Requires active participation of the groom, hence cannot be done via recorded format.
