Significance of Holika Puja
Holika Puja marks the triumph of good over evil and commemorates the story of Prahlad’s unwavering devotion to Lord Vishnu. According to the Puranas:
- Hiranyakashipu, a demon king and enemy of Lord Vishnu, attempted to kill his son Prahlad for being a devotee.
- He enlisted his sister Holika, who had a boon of fire immunity, to sit in a blazing pyre with Prahlad on her lap.
- By divine grace, Prahlad remained untouched by the flames, while Holika was burned to ashes — symbolizing the downfall of evil and the victory of faith.
This ritual is performed to eliminate negativity, invoke divine blessings, and ensure peace and prosperity.
