The pooja involves invoking the Pancha Bhoothas (five elements), guardians of the directions, and Navagrahas to eliminate any Vaastu doshas and to invite divine blessings for a happy and prosperous living space.

Bhoomi Pooja is done to ask forgiveness from Bhoomi Devi, seek her blessings, and align the construction project with natural energies. The ritual is usually conducted in the Northeast corner (Ishanya Moolai) of the plot, which is considered the most sacred and energy-rich direction.
Ritual Procedure
- The ceremony begins with Ganapathy Pooja to remove all obstacles
- Navagraha Pooja is performed to appease planetary energies
- Vaastu Purusha and Bhoomi Devi are invoked through mantras and offerings
- Kalasha Sthapanam and Vedic chanting sanctify the ground
- The first dig or placement of a brick or stone is symbolically done by the owner
- Offerings of turmeric, kumkum, betel leaves, coconut, flowers, ghee, navadhanya, and deepam are made
- Sometimes a small pit is dug, and a copper or silver coin, navaratna, or turmeric rice is placed symbolically to energize the foundation
When to Perform Bhoomi Pooja?
- Best performed during auspicious Vaastu days or subha muhurtham
- Generally falls on specific days twice a month
- Muhurtham is fixed based on Janma Nakshatra, Rasi, and Vaastu calendar
- Conducted early in the morning, preferably during Brahma Muhurtham or Abhijit Lagna
