Day 1 – Evening Rituals

  • Gau Pooja (Cow Worship): In Kerala tradition, Gomatha is worshipped before entry as the symbol of prosperity and purity
  • Kumbha Pravesham: Head of the family enters carrying a sacred Kumbham (pot) filled with water, mango leaves, and turmeric
  • Milk Boiling Ceremony (Paalu Kachal): Milk is boiled until it overflows, signifying abundance and the start of a sweet life in the new home
  • Ganapathy Homam: Invokes Lord Ganesha’s blessings to remove obstacles
  • Punyahavachanam & Maha Sankalpam: A Vedic purification ritual for family and home
  • Main Homams Performed:
    • Ganapathi Homam – For auspicious beginnings
    • Lakshmi Kubera Homam – For wealth and prosperity
    • Navagraha Homam – For planetary harmony
    • Vastu Homam & Japa – For alignment with natural elements

Satyanarayana Swamy Pooja (Optional): Commonly performed by Nair, Namboothiri, and other Kerala families to invoke Lord Vishnu’s grace.

What You Need to Prepare
